BACK

Using 3.5 mm needles, cast on a) 55 – b) 58 – c) 62 sts and work in garter st. When work meas a) 13 – b) 15 – c) 17 cm from beg, shape armholes. On each edge, cast off 5 sts once [a) 45 – b) 48 – c) 52 sts], then work straight.

When work meas a) 21 – b) 24 – c) 27 cm from beg, shape neck. Cast off a) 17

– b) 20 – c) 22 center sts, then finish 1 side at a time.

When work meas a) 22 – b) 25 – c) 28 cm from beg, cast off rem a) b) 14 – c) 15 sts (for shoulders).

RIGHT RONT

MAKE UP

Sew shoulder seams. Join sleeves to body between marked sts.

Sew seams for sides and sleeves. Make 2 buttonholes by widening sts; make 1st buttonhole below neck and foll buttonhole 5 cm further down. Sew buttons.

4th row (right side) rib 3, *yrn, work 2 tog (to make a buttonhole),

For a boy

4th row (right side) rib to last 26(35:41:50) sts, *work 2 tog,

yrn (to make a buttonhole), rib 5(8:10:13), rep from * twice

For a girl or a boy

TO MAKE UP

Do NOT steam press!

Mark points along side seam edges 4(4¼:4¾:5)in/10(11:12:13)cm

either side of shoulder seams, then sew shaped bind off (cast

off) edge of sleeve to back and front between these points.

Join side and sleeve seams. Sew on buttons to correspond

with buttonholes.

Pin out cardigan to measurements given, cover with a clean

damp cloth and leave to dry naturally.
