Today we are going to examine closely “Great Up North Cabin Mitten Pattern” which inspired by Norwegian mittens and cold Wisconsin winters

It’s difficulty level is intermediate but with Cocador  its going to be easy and fun.

Materials

Worsted Weight yarn in Red, Light Blue, White, and Light Green Size US 7 double-pointed needles Size US 8 double-pointed needles Yarn needle

CUFF, BOTH MITTENS

With white yarn and US 7 seven needles, cast on 30 stitches. Divide onto three or four needles, join, and work 16 rows of k1 p1 ribbing in the round.

BODY, RIGHT HAND MITTEN

Round 1: Switch to US 8 needles and work one round in Stockinette Stitch, making 3 stitches, spaced evenly around. (33 sts total)

Round 2: k20, place marker, m1 right, k1, m1 left, place marker, k12

Round 3: Knit all stitches

Round 4: work Chart A as indicated, slip marker, with white, m1 right, knit all stitches between markers, m1 left, slip marker, work Chart B as indicated (Be sure to check that you are reading all charts as indicated above the chart. If you are doing it right, there will be a white stitch on either side of the color-work sections.)

Note: The section between the markers is the thumb gusset. Always work the thumb gusset in white, wrapping the other yarn around the white every two or three stitches to carry it over to the other side.

Round 5: work Chart A, slip marker, knit all stitches between markers in white, slip marker, work Chart B
Repeat rounds 4 and 5 until there are 13 stitches between the markers.

Next round: work Chart A to marker, remove marker, transfer all thumb gusset stitches to waste yarn, remove second marker, yarn over once in white to bridge the gap, work Chart B to end of round.

Successive rounds: work Chart A, work Chart B (Chart B now includes the stitch you created to bridge the gap over the thumb gusset)

Once you have finished working the last row of both patterns, knit one round in white. Continue to TOP OF MITTEN directions.

BODY, LEFT HAND MITTEN

Knit one round in white.

TOP OF MITTEN, BOTH MITTENS

Round 1: k4, k2tog, k5. Repeat around

Round 2: k3, k2tog. Repeat around

Round 3: knit around

Round 4: k2, k2tog. Repeat around

Round 5: knit around Round 6: k1, k2tog.

Repeat around. Break yarn and use yarn needle to thread tail through the remaining six stitches.

THUMB, BOTH MITTENS

Transfer thumb gusset stitches from waste yarn to three size 8 needles as follows:

Needle 1: Pick up the stitch you previously cast on to bridge the gap over the thumb gusset, and two stitches from the stitches on waste yarn on either side of it.

Needle 2: 5 stitches

Needle 3: 4 stitches

Total Stitches: 14 Using white knit 7 rounds.

Decrease Round 1: (k2tog, k3) twice, k2tog, k2

Knit one round

Decrease Round 2: (k2tog, k2) twice, k2tog, k1 Knit one round

Decrease Round 3: (k2tog, k1) twice, k2tog

Break yarn and use yarn needle to threat tail through remaining three stitches. Turn mitten inside-out and weave in all tails.

COLD TOMATO SOUP
MATERIALS
1 bunch of fresh mint
20 sprigs of fresh thyme
10 Fennel stalks
1/2 bunch of chervil
10 sprigs of fresh tarragon
2 kg Tomatoes
150 ml Fig vinegar
30 ml Olive Oil
Salt
PREPARATION OF
Extract the leaves of mint, thyme, fennel stalk, parsley, and tarragon. Roughly chop the tomatoes along with the leaves of the herbs.

Pass all the ingredients through Grundig Slow Juicer 5 times.

Add the fig vinegar and olive oil to the liquid you have obtained and season with salt.

Strain and refrigerate. Serve after cooling.

VEGETABLE LEGUMES SOUP
MATERIALS
1 Carrot
1 Celery – With Stems
3 Fresh Potatoes
1 Pumpkin
2 thin stalks of Leek
5 cloves of Garlic
1 bunch of Spinach
100 g Boiled beans
75 g Green lentils
1 teaspoon of hot pepper
2 lt Chicken stock
10-12 leaves of Basil
80 ml Olive Oil
Salt, pepper
PREPARATION OF
Clean and dice carrots, celery, celery stalks, potatoes and squash.

Finely chop the leeks and garlic.

Clean the spinach, weed out the stalks.

Heat the olive oil in the soup pot. Throw the carrots, celery, garlic and leeks in the pan and sweat.

Add the potato, turn for a few minutes. Add the beans and lentils, add the hot pepper and mix.

Add the squash and pour the chicken stock over all the ingredients.

Strum the vegetables until they are cooked to the teeth.

Add the spinach and basil and mix, turn off the heat.
